India recorded active corona virus cases highest level in last 6 month

According to the Union health ministry, India registered a single-day rise of 3,016 new corona virus cases. These single day rise is the highest in about six months and thus the active cases increased to 13,509.

PM Narendra Modi has already taken meeting in concern with Covid-19 situation in the country with high level officials.

At the state level, various states with high infection rate have taken some steps. Health ministers of many states took meetings to control the situation in the state.

Situation in states:

Delhi: The Delhi government held a meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the national capital amid a spurt in cases. Health Minister of Delhi, Saurabh Bharadwaj has called the meeting to see the attendance of senior health department officials, medical directors of state-run hospitals and other stakeholders.

Maharashtra: In last some days cases are rising of Covid-19 in Maharashtra. Solapur and Sangli districts of Maharashtra have the highest positivity chart in Maharashtra with 20.05 per cent and 17.47 per cent rate, respectively.

Positivity rate describes the number of cases detected per 100 tests.

Jammu & Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir Secretary of Health and Medical Education Department Bhupinder Kumar hold a meeting to review the current COVID-19 situation thorugh assessing preparedness for tackling the pandemic with all the stakeholders of the department.

Recommendations by WHO:

The World Health Organization issued its recommendations with some changes for COVID-19 vaccines. WHO has suggested that high-risk populations should get an additional dose 12 months after their last booster.

The health agency determined high-risk populations as older adults, as well as younger people with other significant risk factors. For this group, the agency has also suggested an additional shot of the vaccine either 6 or 12 months after the latest dose, based on factors such as age and immune compromising conditions.

Even, Maharashtra health authorities have appealed to the public for taking precautionary doses as the Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.16 causing yet another spurt in new Covid cases.
