India- UAE joint military exercise “Desert Cyclone” commenced in rajasthan
The first edition of India-UAE joint military exercise Desert Cyclone has started at Mahajan in Rajasthan from 2nd January to 15th January 2024. The UAE Land Forces contingent consisting of 45 personnel who arrived in India to participate in India-UAE joint military exercise Desert Cyclone.
The contingent of UAE is going to be represented by the troops from the Zayed First Brigade. On the other hand, the Indian contingent also comprised 45 personnel represented by a Battalion from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment.

The main aim of this exercise is to improve the interoperability especially in sub conventional operation areas highly focused on fighting in Built-Up Area (FIBUA) in desert and semi desert terrain which comes under the Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations.
The Desert Cyclone exercise is a joint military exercise between India and UAE to enhance the overall interoperability and cooperation between both the Nations through the peacekeeping operations.
Importance:
During the Desert Cyclone exercise drills planned to be scheduled including domination of build up area, heliborne operations, establishment of joint surveillance center and also including cordon and search operations.
Desert Cyclone exercise is a symbol of UAE and India’s bonds and trust to strengthen the cooperation between these two Nations. It also enhances the bilateral relations between these two countries to achieve the shared security objectives.
