Indian film song made history at Golden Globe awards

The 80th edition of the Golden Globes has been held in Los Angeles, USA in which comedian Jerrod Carmichael featured as the host.

SS Rajamouli’s rocking film ‘RRR’ has been nominated for ‘Best Non-English Language Film’ and ‘Best Original Song’ for Naatu Naatu. SS Rajamouli’s RRR chanced on gold at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards by winning the trophy for the best original song–motion picture for its hit track Naatu Naatu.

About winning Indian film’s song:

The Telugu track Naatu Naatu has been composed by veteran music director MM Keeravaani and penned by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.

Keeravani has handed the trophy for the best original song category.

RRR represents a story of a pre-Independence fictional story woven around two real-life Indian revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem – in the 1920s. The film stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in key roles.

RRR released in March 2021 and since then reportedly collected over Rs 1,200 crore at the global box office. The extravagantly mounted period epic is the first Indian film in over two decades to be nominated for the awards.

Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes is also in the running in the documentary category.

The blockbuster Telugu movie ‘RRR’ has been also nominated for the ‘best picture-non English’ at the ceremony but couldn’t won the award in this category.
