With 240 Indian citizens, Air India’s special flight AI 1946 has been landed at Delhi Airport named ‘Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport’ from Ukraine’s Boryspil airport amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

Air India’s special flight AI-1947 had been engaged in bringing back Indians from Ukraine. More than 20,000 students from India are currently studying in different parts of Ukraine.

Some of the Indian students who are pursuing a medical course in Ukraine felt relieved after landing at Delhi airport amid the Ukraine crisis. Indian students returned after the special advisory issued by Indian Embassy in Ukraine.

Air India has a plan to operate a total of three flights from Ukraine to India for now. Air India is the sole airline in India to operate flights from Ukraine during the impendent war in the country.

The Indian Embassy in Kyiv (Ukraine) organized additional flights out of Ukraine in view of the continued tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

There will be additional advisory further listed to the available flights from Kyiv to New Delhi with the booking procedure. Currently four flights are scheduled to take off between February 25 and March 6. Scheduled flights for departing Indians are Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Qatar Airways, etc which are going to operate their routine flights from Ukraine to India.

Tensions accelerated dramatically after the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin of sending Russian Armed Forces to Ukraine breakaway regions and identifying their independence in his address to the nation.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) carried out a meeting on the present tensions on a request from the United States and allies.

India strongly underlined the need for all sides to exercise the utmost simplify and intensify diplomatic efforts to ensure a mutually friendly solution.
