Influenza A virus spreading in India
The central government officially informed that the sub-type of the Influenza ‘A’ virus called ‘H3N2’ is spreading in India. It has been claimed two lives in the country. The government sources stated that 90 cases of the flu induced by this virus have been reported across the country.
The current spreading viral infection H3N2 caused a number of influenza outbreaks in the country in the past. The prevalence of flu symptoms among people is influenced by the change in weather from extremely cold to warm.
About H3N2 virus:
It is an influenza virus and it causes respiratory infection. The virus causes infection to birds and mammals also. In bird and other animals, it has mutated into many strains.
According to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World health Organization (WHO), H3N2 is a subtype of Influenza A virus that causes of human influenza.
How the virus spread?
H3N2 influenza is the extremely contagious virus which is transmitted from one person to another through droplets released when coughing, sneezing, or talking by an infected individual.
It is spreading through via touching mouth or nose after contacting a surface that has the virus on it.
Pregnant women, young children, elderly adults, and persons with underlying medical issues are at a higher risk of flu-related complications.
Guidelines by Health ministry:
The Health Ministry has issued a guideline about social distancing and mask wearing to prevent the spread of the virus.
People have been suggested to maintain their immunity and wear masks in crowded places.
Even health departments also advised all for keeping themselves hydrated; avoid use of cold water, ice-cream, cold drinks or oily food.
