50th G7 Summit 2024: Highlights
The G7 Summit held in 2024 brought together leaders from the world’s most advanced economies to address critical global challenges and shape collective responses. Their political leaders come together annually to discuss important global economic, political, social and security issues. Here are the key themes and outcomes from the summit:

The 50th G7 summit was held on June 13 and 15, in Italy’s Apulia region
Seven members of G7:
- France-Emmanuel Macron (President)
- Italy-Giorgia Meloni (Prime Minister)
- Japan- Fumio Kishida (Prime Minister)
- Germany-Olaf Scholz (Chancellor)
- Canada -Justin Trudeau (Prime Minister)
- United States- Joe Biden (President)
- United Kingdom-Rishi Sunak (Prime Minister)
Note: Between 1997 and 2014, the group included Russia and was known as the Group of Eight, and had for a year been known as the Group of Six before the 1976 inclusion of Canada.
In March 2014, the G7 declared that a meaningful discussion was currently not possible with Russia in the context of the G8. Since then, meetings have continued within the G7 process.
The G7 Summit in 2024 focused on several key issues, including:
- Climate Change: Addressing commitments to reduce carbon emissions and strategies for mitigating the impacts of climate change.
- Global Economy: Discussions on economic recovery post-pandemic, trade policies, and financial stability.
- Geopolitical Relations: Diplomatic efforts, international security concerns, and regional conflicts.
- Health and Pandemic Preparedness: Strategies for future global health crises and vaccine distribution efforts.
- Technology and Innovation: Promoting technological advancements, digital economy regulations, and cybersecurity measures.

These topics reflect the G7’s ongoing efforts to coordinate global policies and address pressing international challenges.

Conclusion
