  • Russia announced on Friday that President Vladimir Putin will confer its highest civilian award, the “Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First,” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his work on bilateral ties.

  • President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan made the announcement to confer the Prime Minister with the award, the highest decoration awarded to kings, presidents and heads of states.

  • The Seoul Peace Prize Committee on October 24, 2018 conferred Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the Seoul Peace Prize 2018 for his contribution to high economic growth in India and world through ‘Modinomics’, the award citation stated. His contribution to world peace, improving human development and furthering democracy in India, too, were the reasons for him getting the award, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

About Seoul Peace Prize

  • PM Modi is the fourteenth recipient of this award. The Seoul Peace Prize was established in 1990 as a biennial recognition with monetary award to commemorate the success of the 24th Summer Olympic Games held in Seoul, Korea, an event in which 160 nations from across the world took part, creating harmony and friendship. The Seoul Peace Prize was established to reflect the wishes of the Korean people and to crystallize their desire for everlasting peace on earth. The nominating group consists of 500 Korean nationals, and 800 internationals. The awardee receives a diploma, a plaque and honorarium of US$200,000.

PM Modi gets UN’s ‘Champions of the Earth’ award

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on September 26, 2018 awarded with the United Nations’ highest environmental honour for his leadership of the International Solar Alliance and pledge to eliminate single use plastic in India by 2022.
  • Six of the world’s most outstanding environmental changemakers have been recognised with the Champions of the Earth Award, the UN’s highest environmental honour.
  • “This year’s laureates are recognised for a combination of bold, innovative, and tireless efforts to tackle some of the most urgent environmental issues of our times,” the UN Environment Programme said.

About Amir Amanullah Khan Award

  • The Amir Amanullah Khan Award is the highest civilian award of It was instituted in 2006 and is bestowed by the Government of Afghanistan to Afghan and foreign nationals in recognition of their services to Afghanistan. The award is named for Amanullah Khan, the Sovereign of the Kingdom of Afghanistan from 1919 to 1929.
