Ministry of Communications launched Digital Intelligence Platform(DIP) and CHAKSHU facility
Minister of Communications, Railway, and Electronics & Information Technology Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw recently launched the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)’s ‘Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP)’ to enhance the coordination among stakeholders to stop the misuse of Telecom resources focused on cyber crime and fraudulent cases. Minister of State for Communications, Mr. Devusinh Chauhan was also present at the ceremony.
Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw also launched an empowering ‘Chakshu (चक्षु)’ facility on Sanchar Saathi portal for the citizens of the country to report fraudulent suspected Communications.
Significance:
Under the Secure India Project the government has been making efforts to curb cyber fraud at three levels- National, Organizational and Individual. Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw also mentioned some important initiatives of the Department of Telecommunications which have been useful to address the Grievances of citizens as well as protect them from cyber frauds. Sanchar Saathi is one of the examples of such initiatives.
The Digital Intelligence Platform:
The Digital Intelligence Platform and CHAKSHU facility will further enhance the capability to check any kind of cyber security threats. The Digital Intelligence Platform is developed by the Department of Telecommunications. This platform will act as a provider of real time information sharing, information exchange and coordination among the stakeholders. These stakeholders include Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), law enforcement agencies (LEAs), banks and financial institutions (FIs), social media platforms, identity document issuing authorities etc.
The information regarding the cases in which misuse of Telecom resources happened will also be available on Digital Intelligence Platform. It will also work as a repository to the Sanchar Saathi portal and can be accessible to the stakeholders with Secure connectivity.
About CHAKSHU:
Some citizen Centric facilities are already available on the Sanchar Saathi portal and CHAKSHU is the latest version of these facilities. It facilitates people to report any fraud case and suspected Communications received over call, SMS or WhatsApp. These fraud calls have the intention to gather personal information and defrauding like KYC expiry or update of bank account / payment wallet / SIM / gas connection / electricity connection, sextortion, impersonation as government official / relative for sending money, disconnection of all mobile numbers by Department of Telecommunications etc.
