Directions (1-5): Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below:

There are seven people M, N, O, P, Q, R and S. They all were born on different years viz. 1946, 1951, 1966, 1973, 1980, 1990, and 1997 but not necessarily in same order. But the date and month of birth of all these persons are same. Calculation is done with respect to the present year 2018 and assuming months and date to be same. O was born in an even numbered year but in the year before 1973.The average age of O and R is equal to the age of N.P was born in an odd numbered year. Q’s age is more than 50 years. P is older than S.M is not the youngest person among all.

  1. How many persons are older than O?

(a) 1

(b) 2

(c) 3

(d) 4

(e) 5

Answer & Explanation
Ans. b

Exp.

It is given that O was born in an even numbered year but in the year before 1973 so the age of O can be 72 years or 52 years. The average age of O and R is equal to the age of N.

If O’s age = 72 years, the condition that the average age of O and R is equal to the age of N can’t be satisfied.

If O’s age = 52 years so according to the given condition R’s age= 38 years and N’s age = 45 years

Year Age Persons
1946 72
1951 67
1966 52 O
1973 45 N
1980 38 R
1990 28
1997 21

It is given that P was born in an odd numbered year so P was born either in 1951 or in 1997. P is older than S so P was born in 1951.M is not the youngest person among all and Q’s age is more than 50 years so S is the youngest person among all. M was born in 1990 then Q is the oldest person among all. The final solution is given below-

Year Age Persons
1946 72 Q
1951 67 P
1966 52 O
1973 45 N
1980 38 R
1990 28 M
1997 21 S

Directions (6-8): Study the following information and answer the questions given below:

There is a figure provided in the question given below which consist of a square composed of four triangles. Some operations are performed to convert the input figure into the output figure.

For triangle 1- If the total number of letters between the first and the last letter of the word in the alphabetical series is an odd number, then all the alphabets of the word are written in reverse order.

For triangle 2- if the addition of the given two digit is less than 5 then change the number by addition of the square of its digits.

For triangle 3- If the total number of letters between the first and the last letter of the word in the alphabetical series is an even number, then the first and second letter of the word are interchange with each other.

For triangle 4-if the difference between given two digits is more than 2 then change the number by the difference of the square of its digits

Based on the above example, find the output figure of the following input.

    1. How many meaningful words of six letter words can be formed by combining the letters of the output figure?

    (a) Four

    (b) Two

    (c) Three

    (d) One

    (e) None

    Answer & Explanation
    Ans. e

There is no such meaningful word of six letters can be made using ‘xaf’ and ‘ojy’.

Exp. Following logic/operations were performed to obtain the output.

For triangle 1- according to given logic for triangle 1 total number of letters between F and X  is  17 which is a odd number so fax is changes to xaf.

For triangle 2- according to given logic for triangle 2 the addition of the given two digit is 5 so there is no change in the digits as it is equal to 5.

For triangle 3- according to given logic for triangle 3 total number of letters between J and Y is 14 which is an even number so joy is changes to ojy.

For triangle 4- according to given logic for triangle 4 difference between given two digits is 5-2=3, which is more than 2 so the number changes to (25-4)= 21.

    1. What is the difference between the digits of the triangle -2 and triangle-4 of the output figure?

    (a) 21

    (b) 11

    (c) 32

    (d) 48

    (e) None of these

    Answer & Explanation
    Ans. b

    1. Which of the following letter represents the element of triangle 1 of the output figure?

    (a) xaf

    (b) afx

    (c) ojy

    (d) joy

    (e) Both(a) and(c)

    Answer & Explanation
    Ans. a

    1. If all the vowels of the word ‘AERIFEROUS’ are replaced by its succeeding letter according to the English alphabet and all the consonant are replaced with their previous letter according to the English alphabet and then all the letters are arranged in the alphabetical order the how many letters are there between the third letter from the left and second letter from the right in the English alphabetic series?

    (a) 11

    (b) 9

    (c) 12

    (d) 10

    (e) None of these

    Answer & Explanation
    Ans. a

Exp.  After applying the different conditions given in the question, we get

    A E R I F E R O U S

    B F Q J E F Q P V R

    B E F F J P Q Q R V

    Then the total number of letters between ‘F’(third letter from the left) and ‘R’(second letter from the right is 11 (G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P and Q).

    1. How many meaningful words can be formed using second, sixth, ninth and tenth letter of the word “ADHESIONAL”. If more than one meaning full word formed then mark your answer K and if not then which of the following is the third letter from the left of that meaningful word?

    (a) D

    (b) L

    (c) k

    (d) I

    (e) A

    Answer & Explanation
    Ans. c

Exp.  The second, sixth, ninth and tenth letter of the word “ADHESIONAL” are D,I, A and L using these letters two meaningful words can be made ‘DIAL’ and ‘LAID’.
