Direction (1-5): There are two rows given and to find out the resultant of a particular row we need to follow the following steps: –

Step 1: If an even number is followed by an odd (prime) number then the resultant will be the addition of both the numbers.

Step 2: If an odd number is followed by a perfect square then the resultant will be the difference of that square number and the odd number.

Step 3: If an odd number is followed by another odd number (but not a perfect square) then the resultant will be the addition of both the numbers.

Step 4: If an even number is followed by an odd (non-prime) number then the resultant will be the difference of the odd number and the even number.

Step 5: If an odd number is followed by an even number (but not a perfect square) then the resultant comes by multiplying the numbers.

Step 6: If an even number is followed by another even number (but not a perfect square) then the resultant will be the division of first number by the second number.

  1. Find the sum of two rows

        9            3           6

       12           2           7

(a) 18

(b) 12

(c) 14

(d) 15

(e) None of the above

Answer & Explanation
Ans. d

In row-1          9        3

If an odd number is followed by another odd number (but not a perfect square) so= 9+3=12

Then 1 row –      12     6

If an even number is followed by another even number (but not a perfect square) so 12/6=2 (resultant of first row)

In row-2            12        2

If an even number is followed by another even number (but not a perfect square) so 12/2=6

Then 2 row-      6   7

If an even number is followed by an odd (prime) number so 6+7=13(resultant of second row)

So, the sum of both row = 2 + 13 = 15

  1. If the sum of the resultants of two rows is 43. Then find the value of X.

        13             21            5

        16              2             X

(a) 3

(b) 9

(c) 2

(d) 4

(e)None of the above

Answer & Explanation
Ans. c

Exp.  In row-1     13       21

If an odd number is followed by another odd number (but not a perfect square) = 13+21=34

Then row-1       34    5

If an even number is followed by an odd (prime) number so= 34+5 = 39(resultant of 1 row)

In row-2      16        2

If an even number is followed by another even number (but not a perfect square) = 16/2=8

The sum of resultant of the rows is 43 so the sum of second row= 43- 39 = 4

8 is followed by X

So, When X = 2, then this condition can be satisfied.

  1. Find the difference between the resultant of first and second row.

          3            5             15

         13           8            8

(a) 7

(b) 6

(c) 8

(d) 9

(e)None of the above

Answer & Explanation
Ans. b

In row-1         3       5

odd number is followed by another odd number (but not a perfect square) so 3+5= 8

Then row-1    8     15

even number is followed by an odd (non-prime) number so = 15-8= 7 (resultant of 1st row)

In row-2         13      8

If an odd number is followed by an even number (but not a perfect square) = 13×8= 104

Then row-2    104     8

If an even number is followed by another even number so 104/8= 13 (resultant of 2nd row)

So, the difference is = 13 – 7 = 6

  1. Find the multiplication of the resultant of first and second row.

          29           9             10

          16           3              7

(a) 72

(b) 68

(c) 52

(d) 89

(e)None of the above

Answer & Explanation
Ans. c

In row-1          29        9

odd number is followed by a perfect square so 29-9= 20
Then 1 row –     20     10

If an even number is followed by another even number (but not a perfect square) so 20/10=2 (resultant of first row)

In row-2            16        3

If an even number is followed by an odd (prime) number so 16+3= 19

Then row-2     19        7

If an odd number is followed by another odd number (but not a perfect square) so 19+7= 26 (resultant of second row)

So, the multiplication of both row = 2 × 26 = 52

  1. If the difference of the resultants of two rows is 6. Then find the value of X.

        3                4              9

        19              X             11

(a) 13

(b) 9

(c) 12

(d) 16

(e)None of the above

Answer & Explanation
Ans. d

In row-1          3        4

If an odd number is followed by a perfect square so 4-3=1

Then 1 row –     1       9

If an odd number is followed by a perfect square so 9-1=8 (resultant of first row)

In row-2            19       X      11
If the difference of the resultants of two rows is 6 so the resultant of row-2 is= 8+6=14

So, when X=16 then this condition can be satisfied.
