National Voter’s Day
National Voter’s Day 2023 is being celebrated today (i.e.25 January) by India. India observes 25th January every year as National Voter’s Day to celebrate National Voter’s Day.
On 25 January 1950 the foundation laid for the Election Commission of India. This day is observed by the citizens of India to prompt them of their right to vote. It encourages for voting and increases the enrolment of voters.
History of National Voter’s Day:
National Voter’s Day had been first celebrated on 25 January 2011. The main purpose behind celebrating the day is to encourage more young voters to take part in the electoral process.
Then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh led Union Government has officially approved a proposal of the law ministry to this effect.
The Election Commission launched an effort to distinguish the eligible voters who turned 18 on 1 January.
Significance of the day:
India is a democratic country and here the citizens have the right to vote.
People can choose a leader based on their preferences and assessment. It is essential to celebrate National Voter’s Day to spread the importance of choosing the right leader.
Voting acts as the central pillar of our democracy so National Voter’s Day is an extremely important event.

The theme of National Voter’s Day 2023 is “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure”.
This theme keeps our mind that we should all look forward to celebrate the day grandly and informing the youth about the advantages of voting.
