The Election Commission is going to celebrate 12th National Voter’s Day on 25th January. The first-ever National Voters’ Day was celebrated on January 25, 2011, to encourage more young voters to take part in the electoral process.
M.Venkaiah Naidu was invited to be the Chief Guest on for the function but he is unable to attend the function and he will send his message.
National Voters’ Day was celebrated first time on January 25, 2011 to urge more young voters to take part in the electoral process. The Government of India which was led then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had approved a proposal of the law ministry.
Former information and broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni at that time remarked that new voters who attained the age of 18 were expressing less interest in getting enrolled in the electoral rolls.
To address this issue, the Election Commission has launched a nationwide mission to identify all eligible voters who reach the age of 18 on January 1 of each year in all polling stations across India.
Then identified such voters would be enrolled and be given the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) on January 25 every year.
The theme of National Voters’ Day 2022: ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative’.
Due to unattainable presence of Vice President, Union law minister Kiren Rijiju is the Guest of Honour.
An event has been organized for National Awards for the Best Electoral Practices for the year 2021-22 in which state and district level officers will be awarded to for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in different areas.
The newly enrolled voters will be given the EPIC during the event to celebrate National Voter’s Day.

‘Koo’ a Micro-blogging platform has been released on the occasion of National Voters’ Day which is a multi-lingual guide on voter rights and responsibilities to empower first-time voters to aware about the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
