National Youth Festival on birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the National Youth Festival on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Hubballi-Dharwad in Karnataka.
The 26th edition of the National Youth Festival is scheduled to be held till January 16 at Hubballi-Dharwad. The National Youth Festival is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka.
National Youth Day:
India celebrates National Youth Day on 12th January every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Government of India declared to celebrate 12th January as National Youth Day in 1984.
The theme of National Youth Day 2023 is ‘Viksit Yuva- Viksit Bharat’.
According to officials, the festival is celebrated every year to provide exposure to talented youth at the national level, along with galvanising them towards nation building.
National Youth Festival:
It contributes diverse cultures from all parts of the country on a common platform and unites the participants in the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Viksit Yuva – Viksit Bharat’.
Modi is going to inaugurate the festival at 4 pm at Railway Sports Ground where Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Anurag Singh Thakur are expected to be present. The PM is scheduled to leave for New Delhi after the inaugural event.
More than 30,000 youth are anticipated to attend the inaugural function where the Prime Minister will share his vision with them.
YOGATHON and Youth Summit:
On January 15, a ‘YOGATHON’ has been planned between 6 am to 8 am by mobilizing five lakh people from across 31 districts of Karnataka.
‘Youth Summit’ is also going to be organized with two-way discussions on the themes like future of work, industry, innovation and 21st Century skills, climate change and disaster risk reduction, peace building and reconciliation, shared future-youth in democracy and governance.
On this year 2023, the festival is being celebrated as ‘Green Youth Festival’ where only reusable cutlery, napkins, etc., are being used.
