PM Narendra Modi is conferred with Bhutan’s Highest Civilian Award ‘Order Of The Druk Gyalpo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a visit to India’s neighboring country Bhutan and he has been conferred with the highest civilian award of Bhutan named ‘Order Of The Druk Gyalpo’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi received this award in recognition of his efforts to empower the outstanding relationship between Bhutan and India and also for his recommendable service to Bhutan and its people.

The ‘Order Of The Druk Gyalpo’, highest civilian award of Bhutan has been conferred to Prime minister Narendra Modi by Bhutan’s king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

India- Bhutan relationship:

Bhutan has been India’s best neighbour over the past 50 years and more, even though Bhutan has very little area around 38,394 square kilometers and a population of 7.7 lakh in comparison to other neighbouring countries.

The reason for this neighbourhood unity is the ideologies of both the countries. India and Bhutan always look at each other with equality and they treat each other with respect. India always gives respect to Bhutan’s unique identity and religious practices and promotes its ambition to become an economically prosperous country.

Hydropower cooperation is the major field of the relationship between India and Bhutan.

The Gelephu project:

The king of Bhutan recently revealed his intention to build a Mindfulness city at Gelephu in southern Bhutan and he made his vision clear during a visit to India in November 2023.  This Mindfulness city at Gelephu is meant to be a special economic zone for Bhutan to attract foreign direct investment and development for the country.

The Gelephu project of Bhutan is going to be a health oriented hub and will focus on human well being including yoga, rest and recreation, mental relaxation and spa therapies. We can predict that India must be one of the major contributors of the Gelephu project of Bhutan and the success of the Gelephu project will also be beneficial for India.

Conclusion:

India being a business entity for Bhutan has a significant role in the Gelephu project of Bhutan. The Gelephu project will also address the sustainability issues and the well being of the environment. Climate change is going to be the main concern addressed by the Gelephu project.
