Poshan Pakhwada 2024 is going to organize from 9th March

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is all set to organize one of its ambitious initiatives Poshan Pakhwada 2024 from 9th March to 23rd March 2024. The major focus area of Poshan Pakhwada 2024 is around mass sensitization and spreading awareness through community activities.

Themes of Poshan Pakhwada 2024:

The Poshan Pakhwada 2024 is revolving around following main themes:

• The first and important theme of Poshan Pakhwada 2024 is Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB)- towards better Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE).
• The second revolutionary theme of Poshan Pakhwada 2024 is Tribal, Traditional, Regional & Local dietary practices focused on sensitization around nutrition..
• Next one is Health of pregnant women & Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices.

Other activities:

There are also some other additional activities following above mentioned themes performed by states/ Union Territories and partners ministry/ Departments such as Improving nutrition level and consumption through Mission LiFE, activities around Water Conservation through Rainwater Harvesting(RWH) at AWCs, Adopting and encouraging Sustainable Food Systems by promoting Millet & Poshan Vatikas, Adopting and promoting Healthy Lifestyles by implementing Ayush practices, Focused activities around Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) and Diarrhea management; Test, Treat, Talk Anemia, Swasth Balak Spardha(SBS) for encouraging and promoting regular growth measurement of enrolled children at AWCs and other important activities.

Importance:

The organized Poshan Pakhwada in the last year that was held in March-April 2023 had witnessed major achievements in the sector of Health and nutrition. Around 4 crore activities related to sensitization were recorded. The focused themes of Poshan Pakhwada 2023 were promotion and popularization of Shree Anna / Millets for nutritional wellbeing, celebration of Swasth Balak Spardha (SBS), and popularizing Saksham Anganwadis.

Conclusion:

From the commencement of Poshan Pakhwada and Poshan Mah,around 90 crore sensitization activities have been reported yet. The major contributions have been done by the States/Union Territories and partners ministry/Departments. One of the major key objectives of the Poshan Pakhwada is to achieve behavioral change linked to nutrition change at the individual level as well as at the communities level through holistic participation.
