Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

The president of India, Draupadi Murmu, has recently launched the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan through virtual mode and asserted to the people of the country to make this anti TB campaign their priority and contribute this moment to make an inclusive mass campaign to combat tuberculosis across the country.

In the event of launching Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the president said that it is an important responsibility of the citizens as well as the government of India to take necessary steps to completely wipe out TB from the country and make India a TB free nation.

There are numerous programmes to promote awareness about tuberculosis across the country and now the strength of this initiative has become bigger after the embarking of this new campaign.

Tuberculosis is one of the most fatal diseases in India that causes a major number of deaths across the country. Whereas the population in India contributes less than 20 percent of World’s population. But the number of tuberculosis cases in India is more than 25 percent of the world’s cases of tuberculosis. This scenario drangs India into the concern of tuberculosis and it becomes necessary to start various initiatives to combat the tuberculosis infection.

President also mentioned that the most number of tuberculosis cases come from the people who live in extreme poverty line and the poor section of the country. Further, Draupadi Murmu, said that India is becoming a leading country of the world in every aspect. India has done great in the period of pandemic of COVID. In the same manner India needs to combat tuberculosis across the country with the same enthusiasm.

The TB eradication is important to promote the ambitious vision of New India. The New India campaign can be achieved when India becomes successful in eradicating tuberculosis completely. It needs the confidence of the government, responsible authorities and the citizens of India.

TB eradication target:

According to the United Nations, the target of eradicating tuberculosis from the world is by 2030 but the target of India to eradicate tuberculosis from the country is earlier than that. India has decided to eradicate tuberculosis from the country by 2025 and to achieve this target it needs proper implementation of this Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The awareness of this disease is very necessary among people to make them understand that the prevention of tuberculosis is possible and the government is providing every possible facility to the people who have been diagnosed with this disease. The medicine and treatment of tuberculosis at the government hospitals and other responsible authorities is provided free of cost.

To make India a leading country it becomes necessary that the people of the country stay healthy and the country may not need to fight against any fatal disease. It is the duty not only for the government but also for the people of the country to participate in this campaign and make India a free country from tuberculosis.
