A nationwide event to offer credit support to the marginalized segment of the society has been initiated by the The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest of this event.

During the event, Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan’ (PM-SURAJ) portal was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main aim behind the launch of PM-SURAJ portal is to uplift the most marginalized sector of the society and also bring the underprivileged sector of the society at the forefront.

Around one lakh entrepreneurs from the disadvantaged communities will be the beneficiaries of this initiative and credit support will be provided by the The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

There were many beneficiaries of some other schemes such as NAMASTE, VCF-SC,VCF-BC, ASIIM from disadvantaged groups including Scheduled Castes, backward classes, and Safai Mitras presented in the event and Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally interacted with these beneficiaries.

Some important activities:

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi also distributed Ayushman health cards and personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the sewer and septic tank workers (Safai Mitras). This has been done under the NAMASTE
• Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Ayushman health cards are distributed and these cards are the form of an identification card containing beneficiaries important details such as unique identification number and other details given to the beneficiaries of this scheme.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits contain various accessories such as masks, gloves, goggles, face shields, gowns, and shoe covers meant to protect an individual from different types of infection and from potential health hazards.

Conclusion:

This event witnessed around three lakh participants around the country. These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to Vanchiton Ko Variyata means to give importance to those who are underprivileged and historically underserved and have been overlooked.
