Direction(6 – 10): Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:
Eight persons P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W live at ten-floors building such that ground floor is numbered as 1, floor above it is numbered as 2 and so on till the topmost floor is numbered as 10. There are two vacant floors in that building. All the information is not necessarily in the same order.
U lives on 6th floor. There are two floors between floor of U and T. No one lives between T and W. W lives below T. There is one person lives between T and R. V lives immediate above P and immediate below Q. P lives above 7th floor. There is one even numbered and one odd numbered vacant floor. Number of persons live above U is same as number of persons live below R. S doesn’t live on bottom-most floor.

Sol. (1 – 5) : Firstly, we find out the blood relation as per the given statements, R has no sibling and he is married to Q. Q’s brother-in-law sits second to the left of P who is an immediate neighbour of M’s wife. Q is aunt of O who sits third to the right of P who is Q’s parent. P is spouse of S and he faces R’s only child. S is maternal grandmother of T.N sits second to the left of M’s only son.
Now, we find out the sitting arrangement, Q’s brother in law sits second to the left of P who is an immediate neighbour of M’s wife. Q is aunt of O who sits third to the right of P who is Q’s parent. N sits second to the left of M’s only son. P is spouse of S and he faces R’s only child. S sits second to the left of T’s father. So, the final arrangement is :

Sol. (6 – 10): As per the given conditions, U lives on 6th floor. There are two floors between floor of U and T. No one lives between T and W. W lives below T. So, here we have four possible cases i.e. case 1, case 2, case 3 and case 4:
There is one person lives between T and R. So, case 1 will have further two possible cases i.e. case 1a and case 1b and case 4 will be eliminated.
V lives immediate above P and immediate below Q. P lives above 7th floor. So, here case 3 will be eliminated. Number of persons live above U is same as number of persons live below R. So, case 1(b) gets eliminated here. There is one even numbered and one odd numbered vacant floor. S doesn’t live on bottom-most floor and here case 1a will be eliminated. So, we have the final arrangement.
There is one person lives between T and R. So, case 1 will have further two possible cases i.e. case 1a and case 1b and case 4 will be eliminated.
V lives immediate above P and immediate below Q. P lives above 7th floor. So, here case 3 will be eliminated. Number of persons live above U is same as number of persons live below R. So, case 1(b) gets eliminated here. There is one even numbered and one odd numbered vacant floor. S doesn’t live on bottom-most floor and here case 1a will be eliminated. So, we have the final arrangement.
