Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Gujarat to attend a special event of Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary at the Statue of Unity on 31st October 2023.

The Prime Minister experienced a daredevil stunts event organized by CRPF’s women personnel at the Statue of Unity near Kevadia in Gujarat to commemorate Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.

The birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister is observed as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’.

Run for Unity:

India organized Run for Unity on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary to remember his exceptional contribution in integration of the country.

Today (on 31st October 2023) ‘Run for Unity’ has been flagged off by Amit Shah from Major Dhyan Chand stadium.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel:

Born: 31 October 1875

Died: 15 December 1950

He was born in Nadiad in Gujarat and became a successful lawyer in his young age.

After meeting with the Mahatma Gandhi, he became the most influential leaders in Gujarat.

India’s first Home Minister and first deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has played a vital role in convincing several princely states to join India.

His work in bringing the nation together earned him the nickname “Iron Man of India.”

He played a vital role as home minister during the integration of India and Indo-Pakistan war of 1947.

Historical Background of the Day:

The Government of India declared 31st October to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) every year to tribute Sardar Patel.

The celebration of the day is reminder of the strength of our nation and highlights the resilience of our country towards dangers posed against our security, unity, and integrity.

Statue of Unity:

The statue of Unity is the world’s tallest statue with 182 meters was constructed to tribute to one of the most iconic leaders Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The construction cost of Statue of Unity came at Rs. 3000 crores approximately.

The statue of Unity is standing facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the river Narmada and located near Kevadia in Narmada district in Gujarat.
