SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: State Bank of India (SBI) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. The SBI Clerk 2026 recruitment process has started from 11 August 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their online applications up to 31 August 2026.

According to the official notification, SBI has announced 7,680 regular vacancies along with 1,444 backlog vacancies. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only and must have proficiency in the specified local language of the State/UT for which they are applying.

SBI Clerk Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

The educational qualification is considered as on 31 December 2026.

Candidates who are in the final year/semester of graduation may also apply provisionally. However, if selected provisionally, they must provide proof that they have passed their graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026.

SBI Clerk 2026 Selection Process

The SBI Clerk selection process consists of three stages:

Phase I – Preliminary Examination
Phase II – Main Examination
Phase III – Local Language Proficiency Test

The Preliminary Examination is used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not added to the final merit list.
The final merit list is prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to fulfilment of other eligibility requirements and qualification in the local language test wherever applicable.

SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary Examination will be an online objective test carrying 100 marks.

Each section has a separate time limit.

There is a 1/4th negative marking for every wrong answer. SBI has not prescribed minimum qualifying marks for individual tests or for the aggregate in the Preliminary Examination.

Important Point- Candidates should not treat the Prelims as the final selection stage. The Preliminary Examination is primarily a screening stage for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Main Examination consists of four sections.

Each section has a separate timing.

There is a 1/4th negative marking for wrong answers. SBI will prescribe the minimum qualifying aggregate marks, with a 5% relaxation available to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XS/DXS candidates as specified in the notification. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual subjects.

The application fee/intimation charges are as follows:

The application fee is non-refundable.

Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, XS and DXS categories are exempt from the application fee.

Step 1: Visit the SBI Careers Website
Visit the SBI official recruitment/careers page and open the Junior Associates 2026 recruitment link.

Step 2: Register Yourself
Complete the registration process and generate your registration number and password.

Step 3: Fill the Application Form
Enter all required personal, educational and other details carefully.

Step 4: Upload Documents
Candidates need to upload the required:

  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Left-hand thumb impression
  • Handwritten declaration

as per the specifications given by SBI.

Step 5: Select State/UT
Choose the State/UT for which you wish to apply and select the applicable local language as required.

Step 6: Pay Application Fee
Pay the applicable application fee through the available online payment options.

Step 7: Submit the Form
Check all details carefully before final submission because changes/corrections are generally not permitted after submission.

Step 8: Save Application Form
Download and preserve the submitted application form and e-receipt for future reference.
SBI specifically advises candidates to apply well before the closing date rather than waiting until the last day.
