SSC CGL Notification 2018

The recruitment notification for SSC CGL 2018 has been released by SSC on 5th May by Staff Selection Committee of India. SSC CGL 2018 Tier-I (CBE) exam is scheduled from 04.06.2019 to 19.06.2019

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Dates Released

Finally, SSC has published the SSC Calendar & revised schedule of all SSC exams to be conducted by SSC during 2019-2020. SSC has released Exam Dates for SSC CGL 2018 Tier I, II & III Exams which are mentioned below. According to the latest exam calendar of SSC, the Combined Graduate Level Examination – 2018 Tier-I (CBE) exam is scheduled from 04.06.2019 to 19.06.2019.

SSC CGL 2018 Online Application

The online application for SSC CGL 2018 exam has started from 5th May 2018. The last date to apply online for SSC CGL 2018 Exam is 4th June 2018.

SSC CGL Online Application 2018

Candidates are required to apply online to register for SSC CGL 2018. Given below are the steps that a candidate would need to take for successful online registration for the exam:

Step 1: Click on the official link for SSC CGL Apply Online which is provided on this page.

Step 2: Click on Apply Link provided on the official page of SSC. The registration link for SSC CGL 2018 will open up in the new window.

Step 3: Click on New Registration in SSC CGL 2018 application window and then click on the register button.

Step 4: To begin with the online registration for SSC CGL 2018, a candidate needs to provide basic details of themselves like name, parents name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.

Step 5: Click on submit button to submit your online registration form of SSC CGL 2018. It is advised that candidates verify their details before submitting the form. All the candidates will be issued Registration ID for SSC CGL 2018 exam.

Candidates are required to login with the provided Registration ID, date of birth and password to complete registration for SSC CGL 2018.

Step 6: In the next step, candidates are required to upload photograph and signature by following the requisites mentioned by Staff Selection Commission of India.

Photograph – The photograph of a candidate must be clicked in front of white colour or light coloured background. The size of photograph must be more than 4 kb and less than 12 kb in size. The resolution of the photograph must be 100*120 pixels in width and height.

Signature – The signature provided by the candidate must be in black or blue ink on white sheet. The scanned copy of signature that needs to be submitted must be in jpg format and it should be more than 1 kb and less than 12 kb in size. The resolution of the image should be 40*60 pixels in width and height.

Step 7: Login with registered ID and password to complete the Part-II of the application form of SSC CGL 2018.

Step 8: After filling out the application form, candidates must preview the entire application of SSC CGL 2018 once to look for any glitches in the form, if any as the application form once submitted cannot be edited again.

Step 9: Click on Final Submit button after previewing the complete online SSC CGL 2018 application form.

It is advised that Candidates download and get print copies of submitted application form of SSC CGL 2018.

Lastly, candidates can proceed to submit the application fee for SSC CPO 2018 either via online mode or offline mode. A candidate must pay Rs. 100/- as SSC CGL 2018 Online Application Fee.

SSC CGL Vacancy

The Central Government has announced that they will hire as many as 2.2 Lakh people from March, 2015. Out of these a maximum of 70,000 vacancies, will be created in Income Tax, Excise and Customs Department. Approximately 14 lac candidates appear for the SSC CGL exam every year. The SSC CGL Exam 2016 had an initial count of 4500 to 5000 vacancies. However, the number of vacancies was increased to 9000 later. SSC CGL 2018 Recruitment

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for the recruitment of Grade “B” and “C” category posts in various Government Ministries, Departments and Offices. The exam is held in 4 stages called Tiers. While the first two are online the latter two are offline exams. The entire process of registration and communication happens online through the official website of SSC CGL. Candidates must qualify each stage of the SSC CGL exam to proceed to the next one, before being finally selected.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) every year in four levels for various posts. Exam Pattern – The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern

Staff Selection Commission of India will be conducting SSC CGL 2018 Exam in four stages: Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3 & Tier-4 exam. While Tier-I & Tier-II exam will be conducted onlineTier-III will be a pen and paper based exam and Tier-IV will be a computer skill test. Let’s have a look at the exam pattern for all these stages of SC CGL 2018 Recruitment process one by one.

Candidates must note that the score for SSC CGL Tier-I & Tier-II Exam will be normalised if it is conducted in multiple shifts. The normalisation score will be decided by SSC and it will be considered final for selecting candiidates for the further rounds (Tier-III & Tier-IV) of SSC CGL 2018 Exam.

SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-1 will be conducted tentatively from 25th July to 20th Aug 2018. The exam will be conducted online comprising of 4 sections with about a 100 questions in total and with maximum marks of 200. The entire exam is needed to be completed in a time span of 60 minutes.

SSC CGL Tier-2 Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-2 will be conducted tentatively from 27th November 2018 to 30th November 2018. The exam will be conducted online comprising of 4 sections with about a 100 questions in each section and with maximum marks of 200.

SSC CGL Tier-3 Exam Pattern

Tier-3 of SSC CGL 2018 will be a descriptive test. The paper will be in English/Hindi and will constitute of 100 marks. The entire paper needs to be completed in 60 minutes.

SSC CGL Tier-4 Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-4 Exam is a Computer Skill Test. It will be conducted in two steps: DEST Test & CPT Test.

DEST: Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate’s writing skills.

CPT: This test is conducted to check a candidate’s proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Generation of Slides.

SSC CGL 2018 Application Fee

  • The required application fee is Rs. 100/-
  • Exemption: No fee is required to be paid by female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen candidates
  • Applications fee should be pay only through SBI either in the form of challan or through SBI Net Banking or any other bank Credit/Debit Card. Challan form will be generated online
  • To pay fee in cash, candidate should take print out of challan generated online after the completion of Part-1 registration. Deposit the requisite fee in any branch of SBI and then continue with the Part-2 registration
  • Those candidates who want to pay online can go directly to part-2 registration after completion of part-1 registration. Candidate must supply registration number and date of birth to continue to Part-2 registration

Ans. The number of vacancies will be determined at the time of Document Verification i.e. about one month before the declaration of the final results.

Q. Will the exam be conducted online or offline?

Ans. Written Exam for SSC CGL will be conducted in online mode. Only Tier-III, descriptive paper will be conducted offline – pen and paper mode.

Q. What is the age criteria to apply for SSC CGL?

Ans. Minimum Age to apply for SSC CGL written exam is 18 years and maximum age limit is 32 years.

Q. Are students in final year of graduation also eligible for SSC CGL?

Ans. No. One cannot apply for the SSC CGL Exam if he/she hasn’t cleared the final year exam . For all the posts offered through SSC CGL exam, it is mandatory to be a graduate.

Q. May I know for which posts interviews are conducted as a part of selection procedure?

Ans. There are no interviews for any of the posts under SSC CGL Recruitment.. The para 9.2 of the official notification for SSC CGL Recruitment 2018 clearly states that – “9.2 Interview component has been dispensed with. There will, therefore, be no interview.”

Q. Is negative marking applicable in SSC CGL?

Ans. There will be negative marking of 0.5 for each wrong answer in Tier-I. In Tier-II, there is negative marking system of 0.25 for each wrong answer in paper II – English Language & Comprehensionand 0.50 for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper III and Paper IV of Tier II.

SSC CGL Admit Card

Every candidate who registers for SSC CGL Exam 2018 within stipulated time will be assigned an e-admit card/hall ticket/call letter that can be downloaded from the official website of SSC. The admit card for the CGL Tier-1 exam will be released first followed by the admit card of CGL Tier-2 exam (administered to only those candidates who qualify for Tier 1 exam).

SSC CGL Answer Key

The official answer key to the SSC CGL Tier-1 exam is released by Staff Selection Commission within 10 to 15 days of the successful completion of Tier-1 exam. Candidates can use the answer key to calculate their approximate marks and expected ranks in SSC CGL Tier-1 exam.
