SWAYAM Plus Portal is launched by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the SWAYAM Plus Platform for the working professionals to take advantage of this Platform in multiple entries and multiple exits of NEP 2020, in an event in New Delhi.

There are some other prominent personalities presented in the event such as Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Shri K. Sanjay Murthy; Chairperson, UGC, Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar; Chairperson, NCVET, Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi; Chairperson, NASSCOM, Shri Rajesh Nambiar; Director, IIT Madras, Prof. V Kamakoti; Chairman, AICTE, Prof. T.G. Sitharam; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, Shri Govind Jaiswal and other professionals.

The SWAYAM Plus Platform is jointly executed by the SWAYAM and other industry partners such as Apnatime Tech Pvt. Ltd., L&T EduTech, Tata Consultancy Services Limited, The Job Plus and People’s Network, Wadhwani Foundation (Skill Development Network), Medvarsity Online Limited, Smartbridge Educational Services Pvt. Ltd, Anaadi Foundation, 360Digi TMG, and Balani Infotech Private Limited to launch courses on the Platform.

The SWAYAM Plus Platform is also important to widen up the scope of the classrooms by adding around 43 million students. These students will be higher education students and working professionals.

The courses which will be provided by the SWAYAM Plus Platform include futuristic courses such as semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, etc. for the youth of the country to increase employability and Entrepreneurships.

On the path of Viksit Bharat vision, these courses are available in the local language to provide benefits to every student irrespective of their area and language.

SWAYAM Platform:

The SWAYAM Platform was launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Education to provide numerous opportunities to a vast number of students to get educational benefits through various courses. The SWAYAM Platform is a Massive Open Online Course Platform. The SWAYAM Plus Platform is a Updated version of SWAYAM Platform with some new courses that support industries.

The SWAYAM Plus Platform is developed by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with industry giants like L&T, Microsoft, CISCO, and more.

Objectives:

The main objectives of the SWAYAM Plus Platform are given below;

• To build an inclusive ecosystem for all stakeholders, working professionals, learners, course providers, academia and strategic partners.
• To enable a Platform that provides credit recognition for high quality certifications.
• To provide courses offered by the best industries.
• To create a large learners base especially focused on the rural areas.
• To provide an option to learn in vernacular languages.
