  • According to one of the lawyers of the Supreme Court, no matter how educated the women of the country are, the level of male mindset and social patriarchy remain unchanged.
  • There are 4.45 lakh cases of crime against women across the country and estimated nearly 51 FIRs were reported every hour.
  • The high crime rate against women proved the inequality and lower status of women in the country.
  • Delhi recorded the highest rate of crimes around 144.4 per lakh with 14,247 cases.
  • Some experts believe the high crime rate doesn’t indicate the volume of crime has increased. Although this indicates more crimes are being registered in the police station. In many other parts, registration of crimes against women is lower than in Delhi.
  • There are some laws in Indian judicial system for women safety such as The immoral traffic prevention act 1956, the commission of sati prevention act 1987, the dowry prohibition act 1961, the sexual harassment of women at workplace act 2013, protection of women from domestic violence act 2005, the indecent representation of women act 1986.
  • According to some experts India has sufficient and strong laws for the safety of women but irresponsible policing ,the lateness of justice , and a complicated judicial system are the major reasons for delaying justice.
  • Another aspect is that the number of female police professionals are less in the system.
