CBI arrests former principal of R.G. Kar; doctors march to police headquarters

  • The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sandip Kumar Ghosh, former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, along with three others in connection with alleged corruption and the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the hospital.
  • The others arrested include Biplav Singha and Suman Hazara, both vendors, and Afsar Ali, a security officer for Mr. Ghosh.
  • The arrests occurred amidst ongoing protests in Kolkata, with demonstrations moving to Lalbazar, the headquarters of Kolkata Police, and the West Bengal Assembly.
  • Hundreds of resident doctors marched from College Square to Lalbazar, demanding the resignation of the Kolkata Police Commissioner.
