• After getting autonomous status,colleges can improve innovation, enhance academic quality, promote institutional excellence, meet the evolving needs of students and Industries, experimenting with new technologies, driving frontiers of knowledge and also contributing towards social benefits.
• Autonomous status also will foster credibility and accountability among colleges.
• There are also some challenges in front of colleges after getting autonomous status and these challenges need to be addressed By the UGC.
• Some universities impose restrictions to the change of syllabus such as only 25 to 35 percent can be altered and this hinders colleges from reaching development, academic and autonomous goals.
• On the other hand, some colleges witness a great delay to get autonomous status and it hampers the operation of colleges as well as the status of autonomy.
• One of the challenges is related to arbitrary fees for fulfilling the purpose of affiliation by the universities.This approach of universities undermines the autonomy of colleges.
• The State Councils for Higher Education must come forward to resolve the issues surrounding UGC Regulation on autonomy of colleges.
