Reality behind the commitment of Renewable energy:

  1. COP28 Climate summit held in UAE has witnessed the commitments for climate change and economies promised to change the traditional way of energy to Renewable Energy.
  2. The main point of the discussion was the average increase of the global temperature which crossed 1°C.
  3. The main arising issue in front of major countries is how to cap the half degree of global temperature rise to 1.5°C since pre industrial times.
  4. Only pledging to cut global emissions is not enough to meet the goal of climate change.
  5. To meet the target, global economies require to adopt Renewable Energy capacity which is three times the countries currently have by 2030.
  6. At the G20 summit in New Delhi Leader’s Declaration in September 2023, the issue was already raised by the economies.
  7. Among 190 countries which are part of the United Nations of climate change only 118 countries have signed the  pledge to triple the country’s Renewable Energy.
  8. In this pledge there are also some other commitments regarding climate change like ending the continued investments on unabated Coal power. This is the major concern for India.
  9. 70 percent of India’s greenhouse emissions is directly dedicated to Coal fired plants.
  10. 56 countries and the USA have come and taken a decision to completely eschew Coal for the energy consumption in the countries by 2035.
  11. Major developed countries and developing countries come together to adopt Renewable Energy and do a favor with climate change but until there is no practical action and willingness come in the way, to achieve the goal is far impossible.
