  • His India trip was scheduled earlier, but the addition of Pakistan gives it a diplomatic dimension as he has offered to mediate between the two “brotherly neighbours”.
  • Despite both India and Pakistan closing airspace to each other’s aircraft, third-party country aircraft, including Iran’s, remain unaffected by these restrictions for official visits.
  • In Islamabad, Araghchi will meet Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his brief diplomatic engagement.
  • The Pakistan Foreign Ministry highlighted the deep relationship between Iran and Pakistan but made no reference to tensions with India after the Pahalgam terror attack.
