- With this, Anand Vihar will become the fourth high-pollution zone to get these dust-spraying mist systems, after Narela, Bawana, and Jahangirpuri.
- Sprinklers will be placed in the middle parts of the roads in Anand Vihar and Vivek Vihar, and tenders for the project have already been issued.
- The mist system will spray RO-treated water at a rate of 2,000 litres per hour and will run daily in two shifts from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- The ₹4-crore project includes installation, five years of maintenance, and on-site security. About ₹2 crore worth of work will be finished within 30 days.
- This step follows Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s order to ensure that sprinklers and smog guns are used throughout the year to control pollution in Delhi.
- Earlier, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa inspected a similar mist system on Lodhi Road, which is meant to reduce dust and harmful carbon in the air.
- On Thursday, Delhi’s air quality became “very poor” and is expected to stay that way for the next three days, according to the Air Quality Warning System.
- The 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) rose sharply from 202 to 311, said the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), showing a serious drop in air quality.

- Investigators say Baiju made a serious mistake by being absent from Sabarimala when the gold-plated copper plates on the Dwarapalaka statues were taken apart and given to the sponsor.
- He is also accused of not assigning another responsible official to supervise the removal and handover of the temple materials while he was away.
- Baiju is the seventh person arrested in the Sabarimala gold case and is currently being questioned at the Crime Branch office in Thiruvananthapuram.
- He will be produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate on Friday as the investigation continues.
- The SIT has also asked for permission to re-question two other former Sabarimala officials to get more details about the irregularities found in the temple’s structure.
