• According to the WHO report, household air pollution leads to around 3.2 million premature deaths each year and around 60 percent of them are women and children.
• The other concern about the sustainable energy sector is that it is the least gender diverse sector. Women comprise 32 percent of employees in the renewable energy sector whereas only 22 percent in the overall energy sector.
• As per the International Energy Agency, there are only 10 percent women who hold technical posts in the energy sector in India.
• With the passage of international women’s day, it becomes necessary to recognize the importance of women empowerment in the clean energy sector.
