‘Vocabulary’
- Hapless (adj.)
Meaning: (especially of a person) unfortunate. (बदकिस्मत)
Synonyms: unfortunate, unlucky, luckless
Antonyms: fortunate, happy, lucky
Sentence: Many children are hapless victims of this war.
- Erelong (adv.)
Meaning: before long; soon. (कुछ ही समय बाद)
Synonyms: before long, presently, shortly
Antonyms: after, afterward, later
Sentence: Lawrence, Jr. was a founding member of the American Rocket Society in the 1930s and erelong was named President in 1946.
- Aberration (noun)
Meaning: a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected, typically one that is unwelcome. (विपथन)
Synonyms: anomaly, deviation, divergence
Antonyms: ordinary, usual
Sentence: In a moment of aberration, she agreed to go with him
- Forsooth (adv.)
Meaning: indeed (often used ironically or to express surprise or indignation). (वास्तव में)
Synonyms: actually, frankly, honestly
Sentence: Forsooth, there is no one I trust more.
- Parlance (noun)
Meaning: a particular way of speaking or using words, especially a way common to those with a particular job or interest. (बोल-चाल)
Synonyms: jargon, language, phraseology
Sentence: In military parlance, this is known as a fast retreat.
- Inducement (noun)
Meaning: a thing that persuades or influences someone to do something. (प्रलोभन)
Synonyms: incentive, attraction, encouragement
Sentence: The higher payments were offered as an inducement.
- Incommodious (adj.)
Meaning: causing inconvenience or discomfort. (असुविधाजनक)
Synonyms: limited, restricted
Antonyms: commodious, capacious
Sentence: The harbour is unsafe and incommodious.
- Perfervid (adj.)
Meaning: intense and impassioned. (उत्साही)
Synonyms: ardent, emotional, fervent
Antonyms: dispassionate, emotionless, impassive
Sentence: I feel the people of the city are perfervid.
- Infatuated (adj.)
Meaning: possessed with an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone. (मुग्ध)
Synonyms: besotted, obsessed
Antonyms: allergic, averse, disinclined
Sentence: She was infatuated with her boss.
- Vaguely (adv.)
Meaning: in a way that is uncertain, indefinite, or unclear; roughly. (अनिश्च्त रूप से)
Synonyms: roughly, more or less, approximately
Antonyms: considerably, extensively, significantly
Sentence: He vaguely remembered talking to her once.
