‘Vocabulary’
- Shrine (noun)
Meaning: a place regarded as holy because of its associations with a divinity or a sacred person or relic, marked by a building or other construction. (पवित्र स्थान)
Synonyms: holy place, temple, church
Sentence: The medieval pilgrim route to the shrine of St. James.
- Evince (verb)
Meaning: reveal the presence of (a quality or feeling). (जताना)
Synonyms: reveal, show, make clear
Antonyms: conceal, cover, hide
Sentence: His letters evince the excitement he felt at undertaking this journey.
- Inexorable (adj.)
Meaning: impossible to stop or prevent. (निष्ठुर)
Synonyms: relentless, unstoppable, unavoidable
Antonyms: uncertain, unsure, dubious
Sentence: During 1939 the approach of war seemed inexorable.
- Onslaught (noun)
Meaning: a fierce or destructive attack. (हमला)

- Vivacity (noun)
Meaning: (especially in a woman) the quality of being attractively lively and animated. (चुस्ती)

- Spur (noun)
Meaning: a thing that prompts or encourages someone; an incentive. (प्रेरणा)
Synonyms: stimulus, incentive, encouragement
Antonyms: disincentive
Sentence: Profit was both the spur and the reward of the enterprise.
- Infidel (noun)
Meaning: a person who does not believe in religion or who adheres to a religion other than one’s own. (नास्तिक)
Synonyms: nonbeliever, heathen, pagan
Antonyms: believer, conformer, conformist

- Beleaguer (verb)
Meaning: cause problems or difficulties for. (समस्याओं के कारण)

- Menace (verb)
Meaning: threaten, especially in a malignant or hostile manner. (खतरा)
Synonyms: threaten, scare, imperil
Antonyms: guard, protect, save
Sentence: Africa’s elephants are still menaced by poaching.
- Thwart (verb)
Meaning: prevent (someone) from accomplishing something. (बिगाड़ना)
Synonyms: foil, baffle, hinder
Antonyms: nurture, promote, assist
Sentence: I don’t think that will thwart our purposes.
