‘Vocabulary’
- Asinine (adj.)
Meaning: extremely stupid or foolish. (बुद्धिहीन)
Synonyms: stupid, foolish, pointless
Antonyms: judicious, prudent, sagacious
Sentence: It was asinine to run into the street like that.
- Adage (noun)
Meaning: a proverb or short statement expressing a general truth. (कहावत)
Synonyms: aphorism, maxim, axiom
Sentence: The old adage “out of sight out of mind.”
- Fiat (noun)
Meaning: a formal authorization or proposition; a decree. (हुक्मनामा)
Synonyms: decree, edict, order
Sentence: Prices have been fixed by government fiat.
- Despotism (noun)
Meaning: the exercise of absolute power, especially in a cruel and oppressive way. (तानाशाही)
Synonyms: tyranny, dictatorship, totalitarianism
Antonyms: democracy, self-governance, self-government
Sentence: After years of despotism, the country is now moving towards democracy.
- Pessimism (noun)
Meaning: a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen; a lack of hope or confidence in the future. (निराशावाद)
Synonyms: defeatism, negativity, cynicism
Antonyms: optimism, cheer, hopefulness
Sentence: The dispute cast an air of deep pessimism over the future of the peace talks.
- Loquacious (adj.)
Meaning: tending to talk a great deal; talkative. (बातूनी)
Synonyms: talkative, garrulous, voluble
Antonyms: closemouthed, laconic, quiet

- Frenetic (adj.)
Meaning: fast and energetic in a rather wild and uncontrolled way. (उन्मत्त)

- Obstreperous (adj.)
Meaning: noisy and difficult to control. (प्रचंड)

- Acquiescent (adj.)
Meaning: ready to accept something without protest, or to do what someone else wants. (संतुष्ट)
Synonyms: complying, consenting, cooperative
Antonyms: protesting, resistant, contumacious
Sentence: The peasants proved more acquiescent than had been expected.
- Adduced (verb)
Meaning: cite as evidence. (प्रस्तुत करना)
Synonyms: cite, instance, mention
Sentence: We can adduce evidence to support the claim.
