 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Apparel (noun)

Meaning: covering for the human body; as in clothing (कपड़ा)

Synonyms: clothes, attire, garments

Sentence: She looked lovely, despite her strange apparel.

  1. Unapologetic (adj.)

Meaning: not acknowledging or expressing regret. (अप्राप्य)

Synonyms: aggressive, insolent, belligerent

Antonyms: docile, submissive, compliant

Sentence: He was unapologetic about his remarks.

  1. Snubbing (verb)

Meaning: rebuff, ignore, or spurn disdainfully. (तुच्छ समझना)

Synonyms: rejecting, isolating, repulsing

Antonyms: respecting, valuing, admiring

  1. Pang (noun)

Meaning: a sudden sharp pain or painful emotion. (पीड़ा)

Synonyms: pain, sting, discomfort

Antonyms: aid, assist, comfort

Meaning: representing the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class. (सर्वोत्कृष्ट)

Synonyms: typical, archetypal, classic

  1. Purport (noun)

Meaning: the idea that is conveyed or intended to be conveyed to the mind by language, symbol, or action (अभिप्राय)

Synonyms: meaning, sense, intent

Sentence: I do not understand the purport of your remarks.

  1. Bugbear (noun)

Meaning: something or someone that causes fear or dread especially without reason (डरावना)

Synonyms: dread, bogey, terror,

Sentence: Communism was once the nation’s biggest bugbear.

  1. Awhile (adv.)

Meaning: for a short time. (कुछ समय)

Synonyms: for a moment, for a while, for a bit

Antonyms: endless, unending

Sentence: Stay awhile and rest.

  1. Pestilent (adj.)

Meaning: likely to cause or capable of causing death (विनाशक)

Synonyms: lethal, deadly, harmful

Antonyms: salubrious, beneficial, salutary

Sentence: Smallpox is a pestilent disease.

  1. Boomeranged (verb)

Meaning: (of a plan or action) return to the originator, often with negative consequences. (प्रतिक्षेप)

Synonyms: reverse, rebound, backfired

Antonyms: succeeded, flourished

Sentence: The plan boomeranged when they were trapped instead of their victim.
