‘Vocabulary’
- Emulated (verb)
Meaning: match or surpass (a person or achievement), typically by imitation (नकल)
Synonyms: imitate, copy, mirror
Antonyms: neglect, be original
Sentence: They hope to emulate the success of other software companies.
- Commuter (noun)
Meaning: a person who travels some distance to work on a regular basis (यात्री)
Synonyms: traveller, passenger, straphanger
Sentence: The delayed commuter train disgorged hundreds of angry passengers.
- Impugn (verb)
Meaning: dispute the truth, validity, or honesty of (a statement or motive) (बहस करना)
Synonyms: call into question, debate, dispute
Antonyms: justify, pardon, remit
Sentence: There were no real grounds for impugning the decision.
- Penalizing (verb)
Meaning: subject to some form of punishment (दंडित)
Synonyms: punish, discipline, chastising
Antonyms: excusing, pardoning, sparing
Sentence: New laws will penalize firms that continue to pollute the environment.
- Forbearance (noun)
Meaning: patient self-control; restraint and tolerance (सहनशीलता)
Synonyms: tolerance, toleration, patience
Antonyms: impatience
Sentence: There is a limit at which forbearance ceases a virtue.
- Ruffle (verb)
Meaning: disorder or disarrange (someone’s hair), typically by running one’s hands through it (बिगाड़ना/चिढाना)
Synonyms: disarrange, tousle, dishevel
Antonyms: adjust, fix
Sentence: The father laughs and jovially ruffles his son’s hair.
- Alleviation (noun)
Meaning: the action or process of making suffering, deficiency, or a problem less severe (उपशमन)

- Wrath (noun)

- Hubris (noun)
Meaning: excessive pride or self-confidence (अभिमान)
Synonyms: arrogance, conceit, pride
Antonyms: diffidence, self-doubt, self-disgust
Sentence: He was punished for his hubris.
