‘Vocabulary’
- Shredded (adj.)
Meaning: torn or cut into shreds. (कटा)
Synonyms: tear, cut, reduce
Antonyms: mend, sew
Sentence: She ran, crying out as glass shredded her feet.
- Clamor (noun)
Meaning: a loud and confused noise, especially that of people shouting vehemently. (कोलाहल)
Synonyms: babel, uproar, loud noise
Antonyms: quiet, silence, calm
Sentence: There was a clamor of voices outside the office.
- Construe (verb)
Meaning: interpret (a word or action) in a particular way. (टीका करना)
Synonyms: interpret, understand, read
Antonyms: obscure, confuse, befog
Sentence: His words could hardly be construed as an apology.
- Didactic (adj.)
Meaning: intended to teach, particularly in having moral instruction as an ulterior motive. (शिक्षाप्रद)

Antonyms: erroneous, pernicious, misleading
Sentence: A didactic novel that set out to expose social injustice.
- Fatuous (adj.)
Meaning: silly and pointless. (बुद्धिहीन).
Synonyms: silly, foolish, stupid
Antonyms: brainy, prudent, sapient
Sentence: The Chief was left speechless by this fatuous remark.
- Pejorative (adj.)
Meaning: expressing contempt or disapproval. (अपमानजनक)
Synonyms: disparaging, derogatory, denigratory
Antonyms: commendatory, complimentary, laudative
Sentence: Permissiveness is used almost universally as a pejorative term
- Vociferous (adj.)
Meaning: (especially of a person or speech) vehement or clamorous. (मुखर)
Synonyms: vehement, outspoken, vocal
Antonyms: noiseless, quiet, silent
Sentence: He was a vociferous opponent of Conservatism.
- Dirge (noun)
Meaning: a lament for the dead, especially one forming part of a funeral rite. (शोकगीत)
Synonyms: elegy, lament, funeral song
Antonyms: encomium, eulogy, paean
Sentence: Their song, or their dirge, remained unsung, or at any rate unheard.
- Gourmand (noun)
Meaning: a person who enjoys eating and often eats too much. (चटोरा)
Synonyms: glutton, gourmandizer, overeater
Antonyms: dieter, nibbler, picker
Sentence: I think a gourmand is someone who eats an excessive amount of food.
- Beguile (verb)
Meaning: charm or enchant (someone), sometimes in a deceptive way. (मोहना)
Synonyms: charm, attract, enchant
Antonyms: expose, undeceive, reveal
Sentence: The teacher used to beguile her pupils with fairy tales.
