‘Vocabulary’
- Suffice (verb)
Meaning: be enough or adequate. (पूरा करना)
Synonyms: be enough, be sufficient, be adequate
Sentence: Two bottles of wine will suffice for lunch.
- Spate (noun)
Meaning: a large number of similar things or events appearing or occurring in quick succession. (झोंक)
Synonyms: series, succession
Antonyms: little, mite, bit
Sentence: The bombing was the latest in a spate of terrorist attacks.
- Foresee (verb)
Meaning: be aware of beforehand; predict. (पूर्वानुमान)
Synonyms: anticipate, predict, forecast
Sentence: We do not foresee any problems.
- Dawdle (verb)
Meaning: waste time; be slow. (समय नष्ट करना)
Synonyms: linger, dally, be slow
Antonyms: drudge, grind, grub
Sentence: Don’t dawdle – we’re late already!
- conflate (verb)
Meaning: combine (two or more texts, ideas, etc.) into one. (मिलाना)
Synonyms: add, admix, combine
Antonyms: break down, separate, unmix
Sentence: The results of the two experiments were conflated.
- Debauch (noun)
Meaning: destroy or debase the moral purity of; corrupt. (नाश करना)
Synonyms: abase, bastardize, canker
Antonyms: elevate, ennoble, uplift
Sentence: He has debauched the morals of the people and endeavored to corrupt parliament.
- Inept (adj.)
Meaning: having or showing no skill; clumsy. (अयोग्य)
Synonyms: incompetent, unskilful, clumsy
Antonyms: capable, competent, expert
Sentence: I’ve never heard anyone so inept at making speeches.
- Emolument (noun)
Meaning: a salary, fee, or profit from employment or office. (वेतन)
Synonyms: payment, fee, charge
Sentence: The annual emolument for the director of the charity is officially only one
dollar.
- Fraught (adj.)
Meaning: (of a situation or course of action) filled with or likely to result in (something undesirable). (भरा हुआ)
Synonyms: full of, filled with, swarming with
Antonyms: blank, devoid, empty
Sentence: The journey was fraught with difficulties.
- Garb (noun)
Meaning: clothing or dress, especially of a distinctive or special kind. (पोशाक)
Synonyms: clothes, clothing, garments
Sentence: In that garb, he’d make a better spectator than anything else.
