 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Affronted (verb)

Meaning: offend the modesty or values of. (अपमानित)

Synonyms: insult, offend, outrage

Antonyms: acclaimed, applauded, praised

Sentence: Her speech affronted all of us.

  1. Detritus (noun)

Meaning: waste or debris of any kind. (बेकार)

Synonyms: debris, waste, rubble

Antonyms: trove, valuable

Sentence: Streets filled with rubble and detritus

  1. Procrastination (noun)

Meaning: the action of delaying or postponing something. (टालमटोल)

Synonyms: dithering, delaying tactics, dilatoriness

Antonyms: alacrity, eagerness, readiness

Sentence: Procrastination is the thief of time.

  1. Evocative (adj.)

Meaning: bringing strong images, memories, or feelings to mind. (विचारोत्तेजक)

Synonyms: reminiscent, suggestive, redolent

Antonyms: unreminiscent

Sentence: Those old toys are evocative of my childhood.

  1. Sentinel (noun)

Meaning: a soldier or guard whose job is to stand and keep watch. (पहरेदार)

Synonyms: bodyguard, convoy, defender

Sentence: The sentinel was stationed on a hill.

  1. Dicey (adj.)

Meaning: unpredictable and potentially dangerous. (अप्रत्याशित)

Synonyms: risky, uncertain, unpredictable

Antonyms: certain, changeless, constant

Sentence: The company’s finances look a bit dicey.

  1. Knavery (noun)

Meaning: a playful or mischievous act intended as a joke (धूर्तता)

Synonyms: roguery, waggery, frolic

Sentence: Knavery may serve for a turn, but honesty is in the long run.

  1. Bewail (verb)

Meaning: express great regret, disappointment, or bitterness over (something). (शोक मनाना)

Synonyms: lament, bemoan, sorrow for

Antonyms: delight, glory, joy

Sentence: She bewailed her misfortune.

  1. Rudimentary (adj.)

Meaning: involving or limited to basic principles. (मौलिक)

Synonyms: basic, elementary, introductory

Antonyms: advanced, developed, evolved

Sentence: He had only a rudimentary knowledge of science.

  1. Iniquitous (adj.)

Meaning: grossly unfair and morally wrong. (अधर्म)

Synonyms: wicked, sinful, evil

Antonyms: decent, ethical, good

Sentence: It is an iniquitous system that allows a person to die because they have no money to pay for the medicine.
