 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Sacked (verb)

Meaning: dismiss from employment. (बर्खास्त)

Synonyms: dismiss, throw out, let go

Antonyms: hire, take on, recruited

Sentence: Any official found to be involved would be sacked on the spot.

  1. Furnish (verb)

Meaning: to provide (someone) with what is needed for a task or activity. (प्रस्तुत)

Synonyms: donate, give, present

Antonyms: deprive, dispossess, divest

Meaning: an extremely easy task. (आसान काम)

Meaning: free from disturbance; calm. (शांत)

Meaning: showing or suffering from nervousness, fear, or a lack of confidence. (डरपोक)

  1. Sanguine (adj.)

Meaning: optimistic or positive, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation. (आशावादी)

Synonyms: optimistic, bullish, hopeful

Antonyms: hesitant, doubtful, dubious

Sentence: He is sanguine about prospects for the global economy.

  1. Profligate (adj.)

Meaning: recklessly extravagant or wasteful in the use of resources. (अपव्ययी)

Synonyms: wasteful, extravagant, spendthrift

Antonyms: conserving, economical, economizing

Sentence: Profligate movie producers hoping to create the next blockbuster.

  1. Impunity (noun)

Meaning: exemption from punishment or freedom from the injurious consequences of an action. (दण्ड मुक्ति)

Synonyms: indemnity, exemption, freedom

Antonyms: exposure, liability, vulnerability

Sentence: You cannot break the law with impunity.

  1. Decorum (noun)

Meaning: behavior in keeping with good taste and propriety. (शिष्टाचार)

Synonyms: propriety, properness, seemliness

Antonyms: impropriety, indecency, indecorum

Sentence: You exhibit remarkable modesty and decorum.

  1. Evanescent (adj.)

Meaning: soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing. (क्षणभंगुर)

Synonyms: vanishing, fading, fleeting

Antonyms: endless, eternal, everlasting

Sentence: Talk is evanescent but the writing leaves footprints.
