‘Vocabulary’
- Traduce (verb)
Meaning: speak badly of or tell lies about (someone) so as to damage their reputation. (बदनाम करना)
Synonyms: defame, slander, speak ill of
Antonyms: honor, exalt, applaud
Sentence: He traduced his friend’s character.
- Engender (verb)
Meaning: cause or give rise to (a feeling, situation, or condition). (उत्पन्न होना)
Synonyms: create, generate, cause
Antonyms: impede, restrict, quash
Sentence: It helps engender a sense of common humanity.
- Moniker (noun)
Meaning: a descriptive or familiar name given instead of or in addition to the one belonging to an individual (उपनाम)
Synonyms: nickname, epithet, surname
Sentence: His real moniker is Dave Kennedy.
- Catchphrase (noun)
Meaning: a well-known sentence or phrase, especially one that is associated with a particular famous person. (कहावत)
Synonyms: saying, quotation, slogan
Sentence: One of those advertising catchphrases that, if you think about them, don’t mean much of anything.
- Heeding (verb)
Meaning: pay attention to; take notice of. (ध्यान देना)
Synonyms: cautious, chary, watchful
Antonyms: careless, negligent, remiss
Sentence: He should have heeded the warnings.
- Fisticuffs (noun)
Meaning: fighting with fists. (मुक्केबाज़ी)
Synonyms: fistfight, brawl, ruction
Antonyms: truce
Sentence: Sometimes it looks like that battle escalates into fisticuffs!
- Alms (noun)
Meaning: a gift of money or its equivalent to a charity, humanitarian cause, or public institution (दान)

Meaning: a negative answer or vote. (अस्वीकार)
Synonyms: denial, refusal, negation
Antonyms: yes, positive, approval

- Cognoscente (noun)
Meaning: a connoisseur; a discerning expert. (विशेषज्ञ)
Synonyms: scholar, connoisseur, maestro
Antonyms: novice, amateur, neophyte
Sentence: He is a cognoscente of medieval painting.
- Staple (noun)
Meaning: the main or greater part of something as distinguished from its subordinate parts (प्रमुख)
Synonyms: core, chief, major
Antonyms: accessory, component, adjunct
Sentence: ice is the staple diet in many Asian countries.
