‘Vocabulary’
- Zestful (adj.)
Meaning: characterized by great enthusiasm and energy. (दिलचस्प)
Synonyms: interesting, enthralling, engrossing
Antonyms: boring, drab, tedious
Sentence: Books are friends who are not zestful, but faithful.
- Stupendous (adj.)
Meaning: extremely impressive. (अद्भुत)
Synonyms: amazing, astounding, astonishing
Antonyms: common, customary, mundane
Sentence: He was a man of stupendous stamina and energy.
- Ere (preposition)
Meaning: before (a specified time).
Synonyms: ahead of, before, fore
Antonyms: after, following, next
Sentence: I shall be gone ere morning.
- Perjury (noun)
Meaning: the offense of willfully telling an untruth in a court after having taken an oath or affirmation. (झूठा साक्ष्य)
Synonyms: lying under oath, violation of an oath, giving false evidence
Antonyms: fact, truism, verity
Sentence: Two key witnesses at her trial committed perjury.
- Mosey (verb)
Meaning: walk or move in a leisurely manner. (चला जाना)
Synonyms: amble, perambulate, ramble
Sentence: I’ll just mosey on down to the beach for a while.
- Exchequer (noun)
Meaning: a royal or national treasury. (कोष)
Synonyms: reserve, resources, savings
Sentence: There’s nothing left in the exchequer this month.
- Perfidy (noun)
Meaning: deceitfulness; untrustworthiness. (विश्वासघात)
Synonyms: treachery, duplicity, deceit
Antonyms: allegiance, constancy, devotedness
Sentence: As devotion unites lovers, so perfidy estranges friends.
- Effete (adj.)
Meaning: (of a person) having lost forcefulness, courage, or spirit. (अशक्त)
Synonyms: affected, over-refined, ineffectual
Antonyms: undecadent, rugged, stalwart
Sentence: People said the aristocracy was effete.
- Anodyne (adj.)
Meaning: not causing or being capable of causing injury or hurt (कष्टहर)
Synonyms: benign, harmless, hurtless
Antonyms: adverse, bad, baleful
Sentence: The introductions in both books are anodyne and brief.
- Pageantry (noun)
Meaning: elaborate display or ceremony. (जलूस)
Synonyms: display, ceremony, magnificence
Antonyms: simplicity, understatement
Sentence: She loved the pageantry and tradition of the Royal Family.
