‘Vocabulary’
- Sequestered (adj.)
Meaning: (of a place) isolated and hidden away. (एकान्त)
Synonyms: secluded, cloistered, hidden away
Antonyms: desegregate, integrate, assimilate
Sentence: I found a sequestered spot at the bottom of the garden and lay down with my book.
- Presidium (noun)
Meaning: a standing executive committee in a country. (सभापतिमंडल)
Synonyms: administration, council, authority
Sentence: The presidium has decided to hold this evening’s meeting elsewhere.
- Yoked (verb)
Meaning: to put or bring together so as to form a new and longer whole (जोड़ना)

- Residuum (noun)
Meaning: a substance or thing that remains or is left behind (बाक़ी)

- Fillip (noun)
Meaning: something which acts as a stimulus or boost to activity. (प्रोत्साहन)
Synonyms: boost, encouragement, incitement
Sentence: The news gave the stock market a big fillip.
- Shenanigans (noun)
Meaning: secret or illegal activity or maneuvering. (धोखाधड़ी)
Synonyms: buffoonery, clownery, foolery
Sentence: More political shenanigans were exposed in the newspapers today.
- Contentious (adj.)
Meaning: causing or likely to cause an argument; controversial. (विवादास्पद)
Synonyms: controversial, disputable, debatable
Antonyms: noncontroversial, incontestable, indisputable
Sentence: Both views are highly contentious.
- Liaison (noun)
Meaning: communication or cooperation facilitates a close working relationship between people or organizations. (मेल जोल)
Synonyms: cooperation, contact, association
Antonyms: disaffiliation, dissociation, incompatibility
Sentence: We maintained a close liaison with the trade union.
- Corralled (verb)
Meaning: gather together and confine (a group of people or things). (इकट्ठा करना)
Synonyms: accumulated, amassed, assembled
Antonyms: dispelled, dispersed, dissipated
Sentence: They corralled the cattle before loading them onto the truck.
- Countenancing (verb)
Meaning: admit as acceptable or possible. (स्वीकार करना)
Synonyms: tolerate, permit, allow
Antonyms: disapproving (of), discountenancing, disfavoring
Sentence: I don’t countenance such behavior in children of any age
