‘Vocabulary’
- Farcical (adj.)
Meaning: relating to or resembling farce, especially because of absurd or ridiculous aspects. (हंसी का)
Synonyms: ridiculous, silly, idiotic
Antonyms: humorless, unhumorous, unfunny
Sentence: The whole situation has become farcical.
- Derogatory (adj.)
Meaning: showing a critical or disrespectful attitude. (अपमानजनक)
Synonyms: dishonoring, uncomplimentary, disrespectful
Antonyms: honoring, complimentary, respectful
Sentence: She tells me I’m fat and is always making derogatory remarks.
- Deride (verb)
Meaning: express contempt for; ridicule. (उपहास करना)
Synonyms: make fun of, poke fun at, laugh at
Antonyms: applaud, respect, praise
Sentence: You shouldn’t deride their efforts.
- Topple (verb)
Meaning: overbalance or become unsteady and fall slowly. (गिर पड़ना)
Synonyms: fall, slip, stumble
Antonyms: get up, rise, stand
Sentence: The disagreement had threatened to topple the government.
- Cunning (adj.)
Meaning: having or showing skill in achieving one’s ends by deceit or evasion. (चालाक)
Synonyms: artful, sly, guileful
Antonyms: artless, guileless, innocent
Sentence: A cunning look came into his eyes.
- Brazen (adj.)
Meaning: bold and without shame. (बेशर्म)
Synonyms: bold, shameless, cheeky
Antonyms: shy, timid, mousy
Sentence: He exhibited a brazen disregard for other people’s feelings.
- Mutt (noun)
Meaning: a person regarded as stupid or incompetent. (मूर्ख)
Synonyms: fool, idiot, moron
Antonyms: brain, genius, sensible
Sentence: Do not give me orders, mutt.
- Ramification (noun)
Meaning: a consequence of an action or event, especially when complex or unwelcome. (उपशाखा)
Synonyms: outcome, effect, development
Antonyms: beginning, cause, decline
Sentence: Any change is bound to have legal ramifications.
- Soreness (noun)
Meaning: pain in a part of one’s body. (पीड़ा)
Synonyms: ache, pain, pang
Antonyms: comfort, ease, easiness
Sentence: He limped off complaining of soreness in the knee.
- Thrive (verb)
Meaning: grow or develop well or vigorously. (फलना)
Synonyms: burgeon, flourish, prosper
Antonyms: die, shrink, fail
Sentence: A business cannot thrive without investment.
