‘Vocabulary’
- Proponent (noun)
Meaning: a person who actively supports or favors a cause (समर्थक)
Synonyms: advocate, supporter, upholder
Antonyms: adversary, antagonist, opponent
Sentence: She has always been a strong proponent of women’s rights.
- Piffle (noun)
Meaning: language, behavior, or ideas that are absurd and contrary to good sense (बकवास)
Synonyms: nonsense, blather, claptrap
Antonyms: sense, discernment, reasonable
Sentence: Joe really does talk a lot of piffle sometimes.
- Bumptious (adj.)
Meaning: self-assertive or proud to an irritating degree. (ख़ुद-एतमाद)
Synonyms: self-important, conceited, arrogant
Antonyms: humble, modest, unarrogant
Sentence: She was clearly embarrassed at times by Durkin’s bumptious behavior.
- Secessionism (noun)
Meaning: the act or process of a whole separating into two or more parts (अलगाव)
Synonyms: bifurcation, division, partition
Antonyms: association, aggregation, unification

- Confuting (verb)
Meaning: prove (a person or an assertion) to be wrong. (झूठा ठहराना)

Antonyms: proving, validating, verifying

- Glossary (noun)
Meaning: an alphabetical list of terms or words found in or relating to a specific subject, text, or dialect, with explanations; a brief dictionary. (शब्दकोष)
Synonyms: dictionaries, wordbooks, catalogues
Sentence: The book includes a glossary of financial terms.
- Disparaged (verb)
Meaning: regard or represent as being of little worth. (अपमानित करना)
Synonyms: denigrate, deprecate, depreciate
Antonyms: acclaimed, applauded, exalted
Sentence: Her bad behavior has disparaged her whole family.
- Derelict (adj.)
Meaning: in a very poor condition as a result of disuse and neglect. (त्याग किया हुआ)
Synonyms: dilapidated, ramshackle, neglecting
Antonyms: conscientious, nonnegligent
Sentence: He purchased an old derelict mansion that was rumored to be haunted.
- Balk (verb)
Meaning: to prevent from achieving a goal (बाधा डालना)
Synonyms: block, hinder, thwart
Antonyms: facilitate, assist, encourage
Sentence: Their strategies to balk at the enemy had failed.
- Daze (verb)
Meaning: make (someone) unable to think or react properly; stupefy; bewilder. (मति-मंद करना)
Synonyms: stun, stupefy, dumbfound
Sentence: The fall daze him for a moment, causing him to become disoriented.
