Meaning: an abrupt or ungracious refusal or rejection of an offer, request, or friendly gesture. (रोक)

Synonyms: rejection, snub, slight

Antonyms: acceptance, embrace, welcome

Sentence: He received a humiliating rebuff from his manager.

  1. Cacophony (noun)

Meaning: a harsh discordant mixture of sounds. (कोलाहल)

Synonyms: noise, discord, dissonance

Antonyms: quiet, silence, hush

Sentence: All around was bubbling a cacophony of voices.

  1. Raillery (noun)

Meaning: good-humored teasing. (मज़ाक)

Synonyms: teasing, chaff, banter

Meaning: very attentive to and concerned about accuracy and detail. (दुराराध्य)

Meaning: deep love and respect. (आराधना)

Synonyms: love, devotion, worship

Antonyms: condemnation, disapproval, disdain

Sentence: He gazed at her with pure adoration.

  1. Sedulous (noun)

Meaning: (of a person or action) showing dedication and diligence. (परिश्रमी)

Synonyms: diligent, careful, meticulous

Antonyms: idle, inactive, unbusy

Sentence: He watched himself with the most sedulous care.

  1. Reticent (adj.)

Meaning: not revealing one’s thoughts or feelings readily. (मौन रहने वाला)

Synonyms: reserved, withdrawn, introverted

Antonyms: communicative, open, frank

Sentence: She was extremely reticent about her personal affairs.

  1. Umbrage (noun)

Meaning: offense or annoyance. (अपमान)

Synonyms: take offense, be offended, be affronted

Antonyms: appeasement, mollification, pacification

Sentence: She took umbrage at his remarks.

  1. Complacency (noun)

Meaning: a feeling of smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one’s achievements. (शालीनता)

Synonyms: smugness, self-satisfaction, self-approval

Antonyms: humbleness, humility, modesty

Sentence: Doctors have warned against complacency in fighting common diseases.

  1. Balmy (adj.)

Meaning: (of the weather) pleasantly warm. (ख़ुशबूदार)

Synonyms: mild, gentle, temperate

Antonyms: harsh, inclement, intemperate

Sentence: Brilliant blue skies and unseasonably balmy weather prevailed.
