  1. Precarious (adj.)

Meaning: not securely held or in position; dangerously likely to fall or collapse. (अनिश्चित)

Synonyms: treacherous, uncertain, dicey

Antonyms: innocent, innocuous, nonhazardous

Sentence: The world is a precarious and unstable place.

  1. Ostensibly (adv.)

Meaning: apparently or purportedly, but perhaps not actually. (जाहिरा तौर पर)

Synonyms: apparently, seemingly, ostensively

Antonyms: implausibly, impossibly, improbably

Sentence: Ostensibly a university student studying abroad, he was actually an espionage agent.

  1. Recalcitrant (adj.)

Meaning: having an obstinately uncooperative attitude toward authority or discipline. (आज्ञा न माननेवाला)

Synonyms: uncooperative, disobedient, intractable

Antonyms: amenable, biddable, compliant

Sentence: The University suspended the most recalcitrant demonstrators.

  1. Connotation (noun)

Meaning: an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning. (अर्थ)

Synonyms: undertone, undercurrent, implication

Sentence: A good dictionary will give us the connotation of a word as well as its denotation.

  1. Indomitable (adj.)

Meaning: impossible to subdue or defeat. (अदम्य)

Synonyms: invincible, unconquerable, unbeatable

Antonyms: surmountable, vincible, vulnerable

Sentence: Alice was a woman of indomitable spirit.

  1. Assailant (noun)

Meaning: a person who physically attacks another. (आक्रमण करनेवाला)

Synonyms: attacker, mugger

Sentence: Can you describe your assailant?

  1. Grievous (adj.)

Meaning: (of something bad) very severe or serious. (क्षतिकर)

Synonyms: serious, severe, grave

Antonyms: gratifying, pleasing, comfortable

Meaning: an extensive fire that destroys a great deal of land or property. (आग)

Meaning: strong hostility. (बैर)

  1. Decadence (noun)

Meaning: moral or cultural decline as characterized by excessive indulgence in pleasure or luxury. (पतन)

Synonyms: dissipation, dissoluteness, degeneracy

Antonyms: ascent, rise, morality

Sentence: The decadence of morals is bad for a nation.
