‘Vocabulary’

  1. Insouciance (noun)

Meaning: casual lack of concern; indifference. (लापरवाही)

Synonyms: nonchalance, unconcern, lack of concern

Antonyms: concern, interest, regard

Sentence: For all her apparent insouciance, she was desperately unhappy.

  1. Inkling (noun)

Meaning: a slight knowledge or suspicion; a hint. (आभास)

Synonyms: idea, sense, notion

Sentence: The records give us an inkling of how people saw the world.

  1. Acrimonious (adj.)

Meaning: (typically of speech or a debate) angry and bitter. (उग्र)

Synonyms: bitter, rancorous, caustic

Antonyms: caring, gentle, kind

Sentence: Their marriage ended eight years ago in an acrimonious divorce

  1. Misconceive (verb)

Meaning: fail to understand correctly. (गलत धारणा)

Synonyms: misunderstand, misinterpret, misapprehend

Sentence: His arguments are totally misconceived.

  1. Adoration (adj.)

Meaning: deep love and respect. (आराधना)

Synonyms: love, devotion, worship

Antonyms: condemnation, disapproval, disdain

Sentence: He gazed at her with pure adoration.

  1. Ubiquity (noun)

Meaning: the fact of appearing everywhere or of being very common. (हर जगह पर होना)

Synonyms: common, ordinary, omnipresent

Antonyms: rare, seldom, uncommon

Sentence: The ubiquity of mobile phones means you don’t really need a watch.

  1. Obtrude (verb)

Meaning: become noticeable in an unwelcome or intrusive way. (हस्तक्षेप करना)

Synonyms: intrude, meddle, interfere

Antonyms: disregard, ignore, neglect

Sentence: I don’t want to obtrude upon her privacy.

  1. Quantifiable (adj.)

Meaning: able to be expressed or measured as a quantity. (मात्रात्मक)

Synonyms: calculate, cipher, compute

Sentence: The number of websites on the Internet is not quantifiable.

  1. Infamy (noun)

Meaning: the state of being well known for some bad quality or deed. (बदनामी)

Synonyms: notoriety, disrepute, disreputableness

Antonyms: esteem, honor, respect

Sentence: Despite her eventual pardons, she could never completely free herself of the infamy of being named a war criminal.

  1. Credulous (adj.)

Meaning: having or showing too great a readiness to believe things. (विश्रंभी)

Synonyms: gullible, naïve, impressionable

Antonyms: doubting, incredulous, careful

Sentence: Credulous people are easily misled by false advertisements.
