‘Vocabulary’
- Frazzle (noun)
Meaning: the state of being completely exhausted (थकी हुई अवस्था)
Synonyms: exhaustion, fatigue, lethargy
Antonyms: refreshment, energy, rejuvenation
Sentence: The meeting left me feeling completely frazzled.
- Armament (noun)
Meaning: military weapons and equipment. (अस्त्र – शस्त्र)
Synonyms: weaponry, firearms, ordnance
Sentence: The unit has insufficient armament with which to do battle.
- Flitting (verb)
Meaning: to make an irregular series of quick, sudden movements (झटपट चल पड़ना)
Synonyms: darting, fluttering, wandering
Sentence: Bargain hunters at the flea market flitted from table to table like hummingbirds in a garden.
- Apathetic (adj.)
Meaning: showing or feeling no interest, enthusiasm, or concern. (उदासीन)
Synonyms: uninterested, indifferent, unconcerned
Antonyms: interested, conscientious, concerned
Sentence: I realized I was becoming increasingly depressed and apathetic.
- Dwindling (adj.)
Meaning: gradually diminishing in size, amount, or strength. (कम होना)
Synonyms: decreasing, diminishing, subsiding
Antonyms: increasing, growing, rising
Sentence: The elephant population is dwindling.
- Teed off (verb)
Meaning: feeling or showing anger (गुस्सा होना)
Synonyms: ballistic, angry, infuriated
Antonyms: pleased, accepting, delighted
Sentence: He teed off on the Labour Government policies.
- Singe (verb)
Meaning: burn (something) superficially or lightly. (जलाना)
Synonyms: scorch, burn, sear
Sentence: My jumper started to singe when I leaned over a burning candle.
- Goof (noun)
Meaning: a stupid person (मूर्ख)
Synonyms: idiot, moron, stupid
Antonyms: genius, brain, whiz
Sentence: I just stood there like a goof waiting for him to introduce her.
- Dulcet (adj.)
Meaning: giving pleasure or contentment to the mind or senses (आनंदकर)
Synonyms: delightful, enjoyable, felicitous
Antonyms: unpalatable, unpleasant, disturbing
Sentence: She recorded the dulcet tones of her family and friends.
- Insularity (noun)
Meaning: ignorance of or lack of interest in cultures, ideas, or peoples outside one’s own experience. (संकीर्णता)
Synonyms: narrow-mindedness, parochialism, provincialism
Antonyms: tolerance, liberalism
