‘Vocabulary’
- Altruism (noun)
Meaning: the belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others. (दूसरों का उपकार करने का सिद्धान्त)
Synonyms: unselfishness, selflessness, self-sacrifice
Antonyms: harshness, roughness, greed
Sentence: Some may choose to work with vulnerable elderly people out of altruism.
- Reticence (noun)
Meaning: the quality of being reticent; reserve. (अल्पभाषिता)
Synonyms: reserve, introversion, restraint
Antonyms: inclination, willingness
Sentence: His reticence about his past made them very suspicious.
- Goad (verb)
Meaning: provoke or annoy (someone) so as to stimulate some action or reaction. (अंकुश करना)

- Veritable (adj.)
Meaning: formal true or real —used to emphasize a description (सच्चा)
Synonyms: authentic, genuine, real

- Noxious (adj.)
Meaning: harmful, poisonous, or very unpleasant. (हानिकारक)
Synonyms: poisonous, toxic, deadly
Antonyms: healthful, healthy, safe
Sentence: We must trace the source of these noxious gases.
- Fraught (adj.)
Meaning: (of a situation or course of action) filled with or likely to result in (something undesirable). (भरा हुआ)
Synonyms: full of, filled with, swarming with
Antonyms: deficient, incomplete, insufficient
Sentence: Marketing any new product is fraught with danger.
- Cryptic (adj.)
Meaning: having a meaning that is mysterious or obscure. (गुप्त)
Synonyms: enigmatic, mysterious, hard to understand
Antonyms: understandable, apparent, clear
Sentence: He found his boss’s utterances too cryptic.
- Beset (verb)
Meaning: be covered or studded with (घेर लेना)
Synonyms: attack, harass, bother
Antonyms: defend, cover, protect
Sentence: The enemy beset the town with a strong army.
- Diffidence (noun)
Meaning: modesty or shyness resulting from a lack of self-confidence. (संशय)
Synonyms: shyness, bashfulness, unassertiveness
Antonyms: impertinence, impudence, insolence
Sentence: He has diffidence in expressing his opinions.
- Ravishing (adj.)
Meaning: delightful; entrancing. (सुंदर)
Synonyms: gorgeous, stunning, wonderful
Antonyms: homely, ugly
Sentence: She looks simply ravishing in that dress.
