 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Cheeseparing (adj.)

Meaning: careful or stingy with money. (कंजूस)

Synonyms: cheapness, penny-pinching, penuriousness

Antonyms: generosity, largesse

Sentence: I have never been in favor of cheeseparing in education.

  1. Bucolic (noun)

Meaning: relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life. (ग्राम्य)

Synonyms: rural, pastoral, countryside

Antonyms: urban, metropolitan

Sentence: The painting shows a typically bucolic scene with peasants harvesting crops in a field.

  1. Indelible (adj.)

Meaning: (of ink or a pen) making marks that cannot be removed. (अमिट)

Synonyms: ineradicable, inerasable, ineffaceable

Antonyms: eradicable, erasable

Sentence: The blood had left an indelible mark on her shirt.

  1. Coruscate (verb)

Meaning: (of light) flash or sparkle. (उज्जवल होना)

Synonyms: flash, glance, gleam

Antonyms: dim, dull

Sentence: The light was coruscating from the walls.

  1. Bungler (noun)

Meaning: a person who habitually bungles things; an amateur. (भूल करने वाला)

Synonyms: blunderer, incompetent, amateur

Antonyms: expert, maestro, master

Sentence: He’s an incompetent bungler.

  1. Probity (noun)

Meaning: the quality of having strong moral principles; honesty and decency. (ईमानदारी)

Synonyms: integrity, honesty, decency

Antonyms: mendaciousness, mendacity, dishonesty

Sentence: Her probity and integrity are beyond question.

  1. Ignominy (noun)

Meaning: public shame or disgrace. (बदनामी)

Synonyms: shame, humiliation, embarrassment

Antonyms: esteem, honor, respect

Sentence: He feared the ignominy of being exposed as a spy.

  1. Derange (verb)

Meaning: cause (someone) to become insane. (उन्मत्त कर देना)

Synonyms: demented, unhinge

Antonyms: relax, soothe, tranquilize

Sentence: Being stranded at night on a lonely road would derange anyone.

  1. Bevy (noun)

Meaning: a large group of people or things of a particular kind. (झुंड)

Synonyms: group, crowd, cluster

Antonyms: piece, portion, section

Sentence: A bevy of bureaucrats is involved.

  1. Hilarity (noun)

Meaning: extreme amusement, especially when expressed by laughter. (आनंद)

Synonyms: amusement, mirth, laughter

Antonyms: depression, despondence, sorrow

Sentence: His incredulous expression was the cause of much hilarity.
