The opening ceremony of Exercise Tiger Triumph between India and US has been conducted
The Bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Amphibious Exercise between India and US, Tiger Triumph, has started its way by the ambitious opening ceremony which was held on 19th March 2024 at INS Jalashwa.
The Tiger Triumph exercise plays a crucial role in strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and India. The main aim of this exercise is to share best practices and Standard Operating Procedures especially in multinational HADR operations.
Harbour phase:
The first phase of this exercise is called Harbour phase and it is going to be held at Visakhapatnam. The time period for this phase of the Tiger Triumph exercise is from 18th of March 2024 and 25th March 2024. There are various activities which will be practiced during the Harbour phase including pre-sail discussions, Subject Matter Expert Exchange on professional subjects and deliberations on planning and execution procedures of various tasks.
To enhance the relationship among armed forces personnel of both the nation’s, sports activities and engagements are also included in the Tiger Triumph exercise.
Sea phase:
The second phase of the Tiger Triumph exercise is called Sea phase and it is going to be held from 26th March to 31st March 2024. The activities which will be scheduled during the sea phase are setting up a joint Command and Control Centre and a Joint Relief and Medical Camp.
There will be a concurrent exercise named A Planning and Coordination Exercise undertaken during the Tiger Triumph exercise. This Planning and Coordination Exercise is scheduled to discuss the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to smoothen the cooperation between both nations’ army forces.
Participating Units:
From Indian side-
- The Indian Navy including a Landing Platform Dock
- Landing Ship Tanks (Large)
- Integral Landing Crafts
- Helicopters
- Guided missile Frigate
- Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft.
- The Indian Army including one infantry battalion group including mechanized forces
- The Indian Air Force including medium lift aircraft
- Transport helicopters and a Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT).
- Additional the Special Ops Forces from all the three services
From US side-
- US Navy Landing Platform Dock
- Integral Landing Craft Air Cushions and helicopters,
- A Destroyer
- Maritime reconnaissance and medium lift aircraft
- US Marines.

Overall, Exercise Tiger Triumph plays a crucial role in strengthening the defense partnership between India and the United States, promoting regional stability, and enhancing their respective military capabilities.
